The 17th edition of the Typhlo & Tactus international competition for creators of tactile illustrated books will take place in Prague (Czech Republic) from October 28 to 30, 2026.
The deadline for submitting competition entries is July 31, 2026.
Authors from all over the world are welcome to participate!
The organiser of T&T 2026 in Prague is a group of seven European countries which are founding members of T&T project: Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Netherlands, Poland and United Kingdom. The leader of the organising team for this year is KNIHOVNA HMATOVÝCH KNÍŽEK, in English the TACTILE BOOK LIBRARY, which is provided by the Association of Parents and Friends of Partially Sighted and Blind Children in the Czech Republic.

NATIONAL SELECTION
The competition begins with a national selection in each competing country.
You can view the list of 2026 competing countries. You can find there contact details of national partners and deadlines for submitting entries to 2026 national selections.
If you want to participate in your national selection:

Now it’s time to register for the competition with the help of your national partner.
Who is a national partner?
National partner represents a country and it’s authors in international communication. It is usually an organisation supporting children or adults with vision impairment, for example library, social service, school, organisation already producing or promoting tactile illustrated books, non-profit organisation etc. National partner raises awareness of tactile illustrated books and promotes creation of these books.
National partner:
- supports its country´s authors (consulting the creation, printing text in Braille, uploading REGISTRATION FORM etc.),
- communicates with the organisers of the international competition,
- fills in and uploads the COUNTRY APPLICATION,
- is responsible for sending its country’s entries to the international competition,
- receives its country´s entries back from the organisers after the competition and hands them over to their owners.
Most often, the organiser of the national selection and the national partner are one and the same organisation. However, it is also possible that one organisation holds the national selection and another one the international competition. For more information contact the organisers of your national selection.

Register for T&T 2026
ASAP after the national selection:
- translate the text of your book to English and French (no need for a professional translation, a translator is sufficient),
- download and fill in (on computer) the form TEXT OF THE BOOK (see example),
- download, fill in (on computer), print, sign and scan the REGISTRATION FORM: choose the form TACTILE ADAPTATION or ORIGINAL CREATION,
- send your entry to your national partner including a paper copy of completed and signed REGISTRATION FORM,
- upload two documents here:
- scan of REGISTRATION FORM in pdf,
- TEXT OF THE BOOK in doc or docx.

Submitting entries to T&T 2026
Dear national partners, all that is left to do is to submit the entries to the competition until July 31, 2026.
Submission of the entries includes:

Include in the parcel:
- competition book,
- a paper copy of author’s REGISTRATION FORM.
It is possible to send more books per country in one parcel, each of them with its REGISTRATION FORM.
2. uploading COUNTRY APPLICATION
- download, fill in (on computer), print, sign and upload COUNTRY APPLICATION (one form per country) in pdf into Google Forms.

Jury
The international T&T jury is composed of representatives from founding members´ countries. During three days the jury will carefully work to decide which entries will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes and Special Mentions!
The award ceremony will take place on Friday, November 30, 2026 in Prague. If you can’t be there in person but would like to follow the event remotely, we will be broadcasting live. You will find the link in the HOT NEWS section as the date approaches. Stay tuned!
Afterwards Czech organisers will send books back to national partners.
It is up to each country what to do with their entries after the competition. The national partner can return them to the creators. Authors can also donate their entries to a special organisation supporting the blind people (library etc.) to be available for blind children.
